Lothar Krebs, born 61 in Hanau, Germany, grew up in Sri Lanka, Persia and Africa. As a teenager he took private art lessons with Sir J.C. Amerasekera at the
Ceylon Art School before he returned to Germany to study graphics and book-design at the Hochschule für Gestaltung, Offenbach.
